aldi both sides of town

why when a supermarket wants to set up in town is there so many stupid conditions put in there way it puts them off, aldi for example, would like to set up on the hebron road but got 31 conditions stuck in there way why, kilkenny is crying out for cheap supermarkets, they want to set up over beside lidl and council wait for it would like more information come on its a supermarket, and why cant up beside woodies be rezoned and let tesco's into that big empty building let nama or maybe the council buy the old mart and turn it into another town park just my two pence

I absolutely agree with you Just-wonderin. It just shows once again how detached our local authorities are from reality of what people want.

Look at our nearest neighbour; two Aldis for years now, another one over in Tullow, another being built out in Bagenalstown; and guess what is happening; people are driving to these from Kilkenny as they are to Tesco as well. The choice just is not in Kilkenny. Lidl in Thomastown was delayed for years thanks to some planning red tape.

I am frankly sick of it. I really like Aldi as a store. Such a pity we are continually deprived of the choice here. I'll just keep going to Carlow.
