Edmund Fitzpatrick was one of Ireland's foremost artists and illustrators of the nineteenth century. He was born in Freshford in County Kilkenny and baptised in St Lachtain's Church in 1822.
Last night, Stephen and I joined my colleague Senator Pauline O Reilly (a relative of Fitzpatrick) in St Lachtain's at the launch of Historian Ned Kennedy's wonderful book on this important artist.
A really fantastic event, part of Ionad Lachtain's anniversary celebrations, many of Pauline's family were there too. Some of Edmund's paintings were on display from various collections and were of immense interest to everyone.
Comhgairdeas Ned agus leis an coiste Ionad Lachtain.
