Community Support Fund of €290,749 for 85 projects in Co. Kilkenny

July 27th 2023

There's great news today for some 85 community groups, clubs and organisations across every part of Kilkenny, as my government colleagues Minister Heather Humphreys and Minister Joe O’Brien TD have announced funding of €290,749 for local projects in Kilkenny under the Community Support Fund.

The Community Support Fund is a once off fund created by the Department of Rural and Community Development to support locally led, grassroots projects with their operational costs, and give them a helping hand at a challenging time, whether that’s with energy costs, insurance or other overheads. It was launched in November 2022 with national funding of €10 million made available, including €100,000 which was ring-fenced to support the growth of Women’s Sheds.

We all know and value the extraordinary work being done by volunteers and community groups across our county, and it's really important that targeted funding like this is made available to help them keep offering support, services, events and facilities to communities across Kilkenny. Some of the grants are small in nature, but no less important for it, but I know that larger grants - like €20,000 for the 1st Kilkenny Scout Group, €15,000 for the Droichead Family Resoure Centre, and €12,000 for the Freshford Community Café - will go a long way in helping them with running costs and capital projects.

A list of all of the successful projects in Co. Kilkenny is available here.

Congratulations to all successful applicants for securing this valuable funding!
