Cycle and pedestrian friendly cities are vibrant and thriving cities. We have a big collective job to do to reconfigure and reimagine our urban spaces away from private car transport to more active means of getting about. It will require courage and imagination but it'll be worth it. Our towns and cities will become welcome spaces for everyone regardless of ability or mobility. It will lead to safer, quieter, and less polluted streets where local economies will flourish and where families will want to live. I very much welcome the first step on the journey with Kilkenny becoming Ireland's first Cycle-Friendly City and to launch today the Cycle-Friendly Employer initiative which provides employers with an adaptable, actionable model for cycle-friendliness in the workplace.
