Minister Noonan speaks to Kilkenny students on Politics and Society

Earlier in the week I met with the 6th Year Politics and Society class of the Loreto Secondary School in Kilkenny.

Mostly we spoke about the legislative process and the electoral reform element of my portfolio. I spoke of my desire to bring more diversity and gender balance into politics, to eliminate election posters, and reduce the voting age to 16 for local elections.

We also talked about the politics of climate change, about nature, and how we all need to make this big collective leap towards a circular economy and to move away from economic growth as a measure of progress.

Six of my seven sisters were educated in the Loreto and I love telling students that! It's a wonderful school and the students put a really challenging and interesting set of questions to me.

Míle buíochas leis na daltaí go léir agus leis an muinteoir.
